Although we may not love it, the reality is that networking is critical for anyone looking to get the most out of their career in academic medicine, and it’s also something that does not come naturally to many of us. Like any other skill you wish to improve upon, networking takes practice, repetition, and for many of us, it includes stepping drastically outside of our comfort zones. Networking is about education and new opportunities; it will have immeasurable impacts on what we want to accomplish in this field.
Since our podcast’s launch in 2019, we have produced roughly 340 episodes. This includes a few crucial interviews with some of the leading minds in academic medicine when it comes to networking.
In case you missed a few of these episodes or want to revisit them, here is a list, in no particular order, of three memorable Faculty Factory interviews focused on networking to help you improve this skill, regardless of your current baseline. Despite how it might feel, rest assured you do not have to be an extrovert to excel at networking. Heading to a conference soon?
