Listen now:

Dr. Rand

Cynthia S. Rand, PhD, joins us this week on the Faculty Factory Podcast to discusses how faculty can best navigate their professional societies.

Dr. Rand is a Professor of Medicine in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Department at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She also serves as Senior Associate Dean for Faculty at Johns Hopkins.

This conversation includes advice about finding the time, attending meetings and how to get the most out of engaging with your professional society in academic medicine.

As Dr. Rand explains, engaging with your society can be a rewarding way to expand the people in your network who are interested in your clinical or research work.

Societies provide an opportunity for faculty to grow and gain experience they need to take on future leadership roles. Yet, finding the time to incorporate them into our busy lives is definitely a challenge. We discuss all of this on today’s episode.

This is Dr. Rand’s second time joining me on the Faculty Factory. The first episode is available here:
