Listen now:
Clara L. Lapiner, MPH, is our guest on the Faculty Factory podcast this week.
Ms. Lapiner serves as Executive Director of Faculty Professional Development, Diversity and Inclusion at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York, NY. She is a colleague of mine with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Group on Faculty Affairs (GFA) Research and Scholarship Committee.
She was a medical anthropology major as an undergrad before achieving a Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Columbia University. She’s been with Columbia’s Office of Faculty for about 11 years, and she is currently working on finishing up her PhD.
“It’s been a very lucky circumstance that I found a career that brought together a lot of my passions and interests,” she told us.
When interviewing our friends in Faculty Development I am always fascinated to gather insight as to how their offices are structured. As we’ll learn from my discussion with Ms. Lapiner, her office has a few unique features, including a Conflict of Interest (COI) function.
I hope you enjoy today’s episode and find it as thought-provoking as I did! This podcast serves as a way to build unity and support with our colleagues, and I hope we’ve been delivering that for listeners and friends as we near our 60th episode of the podcast.
