Dr. Mulla

Zuber Mulla, PhD, CPH, FACE, is our guest on the Faculty Factory this week.

Dr. Mulla serves as Assistant Academic Dean for Faculty Development and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso.

At the very beginning of today’s podcast we discuss how if someone told a young Dr. Mulla he’d part of the medical school’s leadership team, he would have had a hard time believing it.

He would have made a lot of excuses as to why he wasn’t a good fit, but what he learned throughout his career is there’s always a way to develop and learn as a leader.

“People should aspire to champion and mentor other people. That can lead to a leadership position that’s fulfilling and rewarding,” he said.

A strong aspect of Dr. Mulla’s career has been analyzing large data sets. As he discusses administrative data sets and in-patient data in today’s discussion, we learn about some of the realities of publically available data sets.

This podcast episode once again left me inspired and gave me a lot to think about. As I’ve said many times before, I love being able to host this show and gain an even stronger appreciation for what we do in faculty development.

I hope you enjoy today’s episode and find it helpful and interesting. Please make sure to listen to the full episode through the embedded podcast player above, or by visiting our Podcast Homepage.
