Rachel Salas, MD, MEd, joins us on the Faculty Factory Podcast this week to discuss strength-based psychology. Dr. Salas is Associate Professor of Neurology and Nursing at Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore.

She also serves as Director, Interprofessional Education and Interprofessional Collaborative Practice with Johns Hopkins and Director of the Neurology Clerkship.

This is Dr. Salas’s first time on our podcast and we hope this is the first of many more. She knocks the ball out of the park for us on today’s episode with her insight and advice.

PyschologyToday.com defines Strength-Based Therapy as “a type of positive psychotherapy and counseling that focuses more on your internal strengths and resourcefulness, and less on weaknesses, failures and shortcomings.”

Dr. Salas also talks about the use of the Clifton StrengthsFinder assessment tool for discovering and identifying our top strengths.

“Nothing’s perfect, but this is a starting point,” she said.

Dr. Salas does a tremendous job walking us through the practical applications of strength-based psychology in today’s episode. I highly recommend listening to this episode, and perhaps re-listening to it because there is a lot to unpack that can help all of us.

Please make sure to listen to the episode via the podcast player above, or on our Podcast Homepage. Happy listening!
