The Benefits and Pitfalls of Twitter in Academia

Listen now:

Dr. Mahesh

Mahadevappa Mahesh, MS, PhD, joins me today for a deeply engaging discussion about Twitter. He discusses its benefits and some of its drawbacks for those of us in academia.

We have a newcomer to the Faculty Factory Podcast on today’s episode, and he is another great mind who was able to deliver us great snippet content!

Dr. Mahesh is a colleague of mine. He serves as Professor in the Russell H. Morgan Department of Radiology and Radiological Science, and Chair of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine’s Faculty Senate in Baltimore, Md.

It is obvious that Dr. Mahesh is a major fan of Twitter. He outlines much more of its positive aspects than its drawbacks. Despite how much of an advocate Dr. Mahesh is for using Twitter, he still talks to us about some of its pitfalls, which are important to note.

This discussion on Twitter is very informative thanks to the in-depth knowledge on the subject that Dr. Mahesh possesses.

You can follow Dr. Mahesh on Twitter as his handle is @MMahesh1. If you’re a big Twitter user (unlike me) you can keep up with this podcast’s sponsor, the Office of Faculty at Johns Hopkins, by following our handle at @JHUFacDev.
