Habits and Hacks with Meghan Berkenstock, MD

Listen now:

Meghan Berkenstock, MD,
Dr. Berkenstock

Meghan Berkenstock, MD, joins us on the Faculty Factory today for a discussion about the habits and hacks that have led to her increased writing productivity over the past year and much more.

Dr. Berkenstock serves as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute with Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore. She sees patients four days a week, performs cataract surgeries regularly, and devotes 20 percent of her time to research.

Finding the silver linings in this pandemic has been an unintentional theme of this podcast lately. Dr. Berkenstock saw less patients during the early phase lockdowns of 2020; this led her to engage in more research efforts with the extra time.

She wrote a whopping 16 papers in the first six weeks of the shutdown. We also discussed strategies for sustaining these writing habits moving forward.

“Finding the time and making it happen is the key to success when it comes to writing,” Dr. Berkenstock said.

Dr. Berkenstock mentions Writing Accountability Groups (WAGs) on today’s podcast, if you’d like to learn more, please visit WAGYorkWork.com.
