100 episodes strong!

As Faculty Factory Podcast producer I had the privilege of interviewing Kimberly A. Skarupski, PhD, MPH on today’s milestone 100th episode. Did you know the first ever episode of this podcast was lost? Dr. Skarupski and I discuss that story and the many lessons learned from the first 100 episodes of this show on today’s podcast.

As I am sure you know by now, Dr. Skarupski is host of the Faculty Factory Podcast and serves as Associate Dean for Faculty Development in the Office of Faculty Development and Associate Professor of Medicine (Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology) in the School of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. She is also Associate Professor of Epidemiology in the Bloomberg School of Public Health.

As you’ll learn on today’s episode, Dr. Charlie Irvin was (originally) the first ever guest on this podcast. That is, until I accidentally deleted his episode. Within a couple weeks after the incident, he graciously found another hour on his busy calendar for us to re-record it. You can listen to that episode with Dr. Irvin here.

I am the author of How to Podcast When You Aren’t Tech Savvy, and I’ve been podcasting in some form (editing, recording, producing, etc.) for years, yet, I still have my head-scratching moments. After all, we are all human!

Sometimes technology can have a mind of its own, and despite all my experience I failed to triple-check a key step in the podcast production workflow. Long story short: I lost the first ever episode of the Faculty Factory Podcast.

As Dr. Irvin would say, a “key to success” is certainly learning from your mistakes and I’m proud of having never made that mistake again! You’ll be able to hear some other fun stories and takeaways from the first 100 episodes by listening to today’s episode.

Thank you to all of the guests who have been so gracious with their time in order to help make this podcast what is has become!

We hope you enjoy it, and as you can listen via the podcast player above. Visit out Podcast Homepage to listen to all of our 100 episodes, or find us on YouTube! Here’s to 100 more episodes!
